What Is Pixel Pitch?

Pixel pitch is the center-to-center distance between adjacent LED pixels, measured in millimeters. A "P3" display has pixels spaced 3mm apart; a "P2.5" display has pixels 2.5mm apart; and so on.

The fundamental relationship: Smaller pixel pitch = more pixels per square meter = higher resolution = better image quality at close viewing distances — but also higher cost and higher power consumption.

Minimum Viewing Distance

The minimum viewing distance is the closest point at which the human eye can no longer distinguish individual pixels — the image appears as a smooth, continuous picture. Below this distance, the pixel grid becomes visible, degrading image quality.
